Desensitization & reprocessing

EMDR is an evidence‑based approach that helps your brain reprocess distressing memories in a way that reduces their emotional charge. Instead of staying stuck in old patterns of fear, shame, or self‑protection, EMDR supports your nervous system in integrating these memories in a healthier, more grounded way.

Understanding Your Story

Before we begin reprocessing memories, we will spend time exploring on your history and patterns that show up in your life. This helps us connect present-day concerns to past experiences that still feel unresolved. Together, we’ll create a map of the experiences you want to work through and the goals you’re moving toward, giving us a clear and supportive path for your EMDR work.

Building Tools for Safety & Regulation

Discussing your personal resources and supporting you in developing coping strategies is an integral part of EMDR work. We will work together to build and practice skills that genuinely work for you. I prioritize this stage of the process so that you feel grounded and confident as we move into the deeper work.

How it Works

Rather than talking through trauma in detail, EMDR helps to unlock the nervous system, allowing your brain to reprocess and heal through its natural mechanisms. In a reprocessing session, we will use bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, to help your brain access, process, and store the targeted memory in an adaptive way. During the bilateral stimulation, your role is to simply notice any shifts in your thoughts, emotions, or body.

What Healing Can Feel Like

I describe EMDR as a comprehensive, integrated approach that supports both mind and body. As we reprocess each memory, we will restructure negative belief systems and release physical tension connected to the experience, allowing for reduced emotional intensity and greater clarity.

I have both seen and experienced meaningful shifts through EMDR work. I deeply believe in the power of EMDR and the way it supports real, lasting change.
